The exhibition acquaints the visitor with the cultural diversity of the Golden Horde, the state which occupied the vast expanse of the steppe in Eurasia in the 13th – 15th centuries. Based on the materials from several archaeological collections, the exhibition displays the objects made of precious stones, which represent the main stages of the development of horsemen’s culture of the 13th to the 14th centuries.
The archaeological materials provided by the excavations carried out in Fort Gulistan in the mid-Volga Region give a good idea about the culture of the Golden Horde’s steppe towns. The materials of the Belorechenskaya collection (Northern Caucasus) and the Solkhatskaya collection (Eastern Crimea) make it possible to reveal the contacts and trade relations between Eastern Crimea and Northern Caucasus during the period of the late 14th – 15th centuries.
