Talia Chetrit, Invernomuto (Simone Bertuzzi and Simone Trabucchi) and Diego Marcon are the three finalists in the MAXXI BVLGARI Prize, the museum’s project supporting and promoting young artists that thanks to the partnership with Bulgari will from this year be renewed, reinforced and projected onto the international art scene.
The finalists – chosen by an international jury composed of David Elliott, independent curator, Yuko Hasegawa, Artistic Director of MOT in Tokyo, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director of the Serpentine Galleries in London, Hou Hanru, Artistic Director at MAXXI, and Bartolomeo Pietromarchi, Director of MAXXI Arte – present site-specific works in Gallery 4 along with groups of previously shown works.
The exhibition is arranged in a fluid, immersive layout that allows visitors to explore the work of the finalists who are presenting new and recent projects: from Invernomuto presenting a work composed of the film Calendoola: SURUS, a sound installation, a sculpture and a perfume, to Ludwig by Diego Marcon, the first work of the artist realised entirely in CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery), through to Amateur, the photographic nucleus and the video presented by Talia Chetrit.
The winner of the 9th edition will be announced on the 26th of October 2018 and the catalogue of the exhibition dedicated to the three finalists will be presented on the occasion of the prize-giving. The work will be acquired by MAXXI and will be added to the museum’s permanent collection.
