The Tretyakov Gallery presents the first personal museum exhibition of the artist Boris Alexandrovich Golopolosov (1900–1983).
The exhibition will display his works created between 1923 and 1937 and relating to the earliest, brightest period of the artist’s art. In addition to the works from the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery, there will be shown paintings and graphic sheets from the museums of Vologda, Arkhangelsk, and Moscow private collections. A special place will be occupied by the works that have been preserved in the artist’s family.
The exhibition will include about 40 paintings and more than 80 graphic works – original drawings and gouaches. Moreover, it is planned to publish the catalogue – the first scientific publication dedicated to Golopolosov’s works. For the first time, they will publish unique archival documents stored in the artist’s family, which will help to better understand the contradictory situation in the Soviet art of the 1920s and 1930s.
