Open Mind Art Space is pleased to present its 3rd Annual Anniversary Exhibition, organized by gallery owner and director, Alison Limtavemongkol, and Los Angeles artist and curator Matt Allison. Participating artists will be contributing their work to raise money in support of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). A reception for the benefit will be held on Saturday, March 9th from 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM.

Each year, Open Mind Art Space maintains a tradition of hosting an Annual Anniversary Exhibition to celebrate its anniversary and honor its artists who contributed to the gallery’s programming from 2016 to the present. For its 3rd Annual Anniversary Exhibition, popular and new works by Open Mind artists will be featured, and works by newly selected artists will also be introduced. Participating Open Mind artists will include Charley Alexander, Matt Allison, Ariel Brice, Vanesa Gingold, Theresa Knopf, Ashley Mistriel, Matthew Usinowicz, Andre Yi and Jody Zellen. Newly selected artists will include Cathy Ellis, Paul Shortt, Peter Sowinski and more.

In celebration of its third year in business, Open Mind Art Space will be donating 100% of the sales from the exhibition to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The ACLU is a non-profit organization that “For nearly 100 years, …has been our nation’s guardian of liberty, working in courts, legislatures, and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties that the Constitution and the laws of the United States guarantee everyone in this country. The ACLU takes up the toughest civil liberties cases and issues to defend all people from government abuse and overreach.”

Alison Limtavemongkol received her BA in Studio Arts from Loyola Marymount University and is the founder, owner and director of Open Mind Art Space. As an artist herself, she understands and values the importance of providing a platform for artists to share their creative visions and inspire others through their work. She will be making new work to contribute to the exhibition.

Matt Allison received his BFA from Ringling College of Art and Design, and his MFA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and works primarily with found objects and mixed media. Matt has recently redirected his art and curatorial practice to serve social justice and environmental protection causes, and to help other emerging artists connect with charitable organizations. He is one of the featured Open Mind artists in the exhibition.

Open Mind Art Space looks forward to continuing to showcase contemporary art from a diverse blend of talented emerging artists, and facilitating a curatorial process that allows its artists to create impactful work, while furthering its mission to inspire and challenge the local Los Angeles community by providing a comfortable, engaging space for reflection and dialogue. Open Mind also believes that art can be a powerful way to motivate positive change in people and the world as a whole. Going forward, the gallery plans to utilize more of its programming for social and environmental awareness and activism, and to show its support for non-profit organizations that reflect its values, which is why it has chosen to benefit the ACLU for this year’s anniversary exhibition.
