Puerto-Rico-based duo Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla will present their first major solo project in Russia as a Garage Square Commission.

Working largely in response to contexts and their social, political, and cultural undercurrents, their works incorporate various media and are the product of extensive research that draws on diverse fields of knowledge ranging from sonic studies to warfare and biophysics. Their formally unique artistic language is deeply informed by a critical and visionary approach towards meaning-making.

Allora & Calzadilla’s installation will resonate with the themes brought up in The Coming World: Ecology as the New Politics 2030–2100, an exhibition exploring important issues around environmentalism and ecology, which will take place at Garage in summer 2019.
