In spring 2019, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art presents Bureau des transmissions, a project developed jointly by the Museum’s curatorial and educational teams, which focuses on the production and circulation of knowledge in a museum setting.

The project marks ten years of educational programs at Garage. In this period, the Museum’s active involvement in the Russian art community has been marked by numerous lectures, discussions, master classes, and reading groups, and also a program of long-term cooperation between Garage and the Higher School of Economics, which was launched in 2018.

Presented as a discussion space and forum with artistic interventions, Bureau des transmissions examines educational strategies as an integral part of the life of the contemporary museum. Russian and international participants will discuss various forms of pedagogical practice, some of which exist on the territory of art (artistic research or art therapy) and others rethink our relationship with museum culture (community engagement or institutional critique).
