The project is organized within the framework of the “Republic of Estonia — 100” cultural programme.
The exhibition includes works created during the past century: along with art pieces by masters of the Soviet period, the exhibition displays paintings, drawings, sculptures by the key representatives of pre-war Estonian modernism and works by Estonian artists of the 21st century. This is the first experience of cooperation between the leading national art museums of the two countries – The Tretyakov Gallery and the Art Museum of Estonia (Tallinn).
The exhibition allows to picture well enough the complex and controversial stage of the artistic life and culture of Estonia in the 20th and early 21st century filled with interesting creative discoveries and solutions.
