The Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna (1882-1960) was a daughter of Emperor Alexander III and Empress Maria Feodorovna, and a younger sister of Emperor Nicholas II.
She began to paint as a child, studying in the Imperial Palace in Gatchina under the guidance of the best artists: K.V. Lemokh, V.E. Makovsky, S.Yu. Zhukovsky and S.A. Vinogradov. Later, she patronized the Imperial Society of Russian Watercolorists and the Society of Artists named after A.I. Kuindzhi, which was created on its basis, with her teacher, Academician Konstantin Kryzhitsky, as one of its founders.
The exhibition shows 155 works from a private collection and covers the periods of the Grand Duchess’ creativity in Russia, Denmark and Canada.
