Wilding Cran Gallery is pleased to present Fishers and Flotsam in the River of Light, new and recent work by Michael Cran. The exhibition features work from Cran’s Nice Package series, which combines post-consumer packaging with cement and wood, transforming the object from temporary to permanent, trash to treasure.
The show will also include freestanding carved sculptures, which Cran makes by intuitively responding to the nature of the given material, allowing the shape to evolve organically, providing a contrast to the factory produced moulds of the packages.
Michael Cran is a sculptor, painter, and furniture maker based in Oakland, California. In 2008, Cran participated in a residency at the JB Blunk house in Inverness, CA. Following the residency was his first group show in Los Angeles at Reform Gallery. Fishers and Flotsam in the River of Light is Cran’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles.
