J. Cacciola Gallery W is pleased to announce the second annual Winter Invitational Exhibition. Participating artists include Serena Bocchino, MF Cardamone, George Diebold, Barbara Kassel, Alison Kay, Philip Kennedy-Grant, James Lahey, Tim Merrett, Tom Palmore, Mavis Smith, Linda Streicher, and other selected artists.
The exhibition features beautifully haunting photographs by George Diebold, the work of acclaimed Canadian artists James Lahey and Tim Merrett, energetic abstract paintings by Philip Kennedy-Grant, delicate egg tempera paintings by Mavis Smith, and hyper-realist paintings of wildlife by Tom Palmore. Original architectural etchings by the late Richard Bunkall will also be on view.
The gallery is proud to debut new mixed media sculptures by Serena Bocchino. During her studio residency at MANA Contemporary, Bocchino expanded her recent exploration into three-dimensional space. Her sculptural forms echo her signature style of abstract drip painting, effectively blurring the lines between these art forms.
The gallery also introduces three new artists to its fold: MF Cardamone, Barbara Kassel, and Linda Streicher. MF Cardamone’s contemporary botanical illustrations combine digitally scanned plant specimens, text, and other images into surreal, often narrative, compositions. Cardamone’s work can be found in the collections of the Tucson Museum of Art and the Barnes Arboretum School, among others. Barbara Kassel is an established realist still-life painter based in Tribeca, Lower Manhattan. Her masterful compositions are both playful and imaginative, incorporating narratives and symbolic meaning effortlessly on the canvas. Her work has been recognized throughout the US with multiple solo shows. Her work is in the public collections of organizations such as the New Britain Museum of American Art, The National Museum of Wildlife Art, and Bank of America. Linda Streicher is an emerging abstract painter. Her work consists of abstract spaces and geometric forms set in an engaging and surreal metaphysical world. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in business and fine arts, and went on to earn her Masters in Architecture while continuing to paint and show her work. She co-curates art exhibits for the Hyatt at Headquarters Plaza and conducts workshops at ArtSpace in Morristown, NJ.
From fascinating still life, botanicals and portraits to vibrant, bold abstract painting and sculpture, viewers will enjoy an energized and inspirational collection of fine art. The 2018 Winter Invitational Exhibition is a representation of the gallery’s commitment to bringing high-caliber fine art to a wider audience, as well as a unique opportunity for the public to view and collect works from established regionally, nationally and internationally known artists. The opening reception on Friday, January 19th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. is open to the public.
