J. Cacciola Gallery W is pleased to announce the upcoming J. Cacciola Gallery W Winter Invitational. This exhibition features a selection of work from thirteen established regionally, nationally and internationally known artists, including Serena Bocchino, Wes Sherman, James Lahey, and Tom Palmore.
As a preview of the upcoming year’s exhibition calendar at J. Cacciola Gallery W, this group show offers a glimpse of what to expect in 2017. The exhibition will incorporate a refreshing range of styles and mediums, from abstraction to realism, painting and sculpture. New work by represented artists will be paired with work from widely recognized artists being introduced to the Somerset Hills area for the first time.
The exhibition will highlight and celebrate some of the gallery’s represented artists, as well as introduce new artists to the gallery. Serena Bocchino, whose abstract drip paintings are inspired by music, will showcase works that mark her evolving style.
The acclaimed Oklahoma-based hyperrealist painter Tom Palmore creates stunningly life-like paintings of animals. As one of the major figures in contemporary realism, Palmore’s work has been shown throughout the US, and can be found in the permanent collections of institutions including the Whitney Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Brooklyn Museum. This exhibition also serves as Palmore’s debut in this region for the first time in over 10 years.
Another new addition to the gallery's fold of artists is Irish painter & sculptor Cathy Hayes. Her work pursues, through vibrancy and tongue-in-cheek irreverence, alternative perspectives on women’s relationship with themselves both internally, and with society at large. Her raw, gestural figurative drawings require the viewer to confront these ideas head-on.
Original etchings and a large-scale oil painting by the late Richard Bunkall, who was diagnosed with ALS, will also be on view as part of this exhibition. During his lifetime, Richard Bunkall created a significant body of work that was both technically excellent and emotionally compelling – one that is now highly sought after by collectors. The gallery is proud to continue to showcase Bunkall’s work as part of this group exhibition. This winter exhibition will take its place as an important addition to the area’s art calendar, bringing together contemporary art of various genres, techniques and styles for a unique and engaging art experience.
