The Deutsches Theater in Berlin is one of the leading spoken theater venues in the German-speaking world. Behind its elegant neoclassical facade, this theater, originally founded as the "Friedrich-Wilhelm-Städtisches Theater," now houses three stages on Schumannstraße: the DT Bühne, with approximately 600 seats; the Kammer, with around 230 seats; and the Box, a flexible performance space with a maximum of 80 seats, which opened in 2006.
