Rosa von Praunheim is a filmmaker, producer, writer and poet, gifted painter, activist and one of the great pioneers of the gay movement in Germany and worldwide. Rosa will be 82 years old in November, but he is not taking much time to celebrate. Films, interviews, exhibitions, book projects: Rosa is always working on many things at the same time. He remains a restless spirit who analyses our present with polemics and curiosity, sharpness and wit, constantly writing poetry and singing songs.

The fact that Rosa has also been writing and directing plays for some years now has a lot to do with German theatre: Jeder Idiot hat eine Oma, nur ich nicht was his first play - a theatre evening about himself, written and premiered in 2018 on the occasion of his 75th birthday. His second play, Hitler's Ziegen und die Hämorrhoiden des Königs, also premiered at the Kammerspiele.

With The island of perverts, Rosa now completes his trilogy at the Deutsches Theater: Rosa and important co-conspirators from the two previous evenings invent, write, compose, sing and dance for DT a german Singspiel. Unlike the previous evenings, the focus is on the near future: What if ...? Will everything be gloomy or will everything stay pink ...?
