The Jewish Museum in Stockholm is located in Sweden’s oldest preserved synagogue at
Själagårdsgatan 19 in the Old Town. Much of the synagogue’s original interior is intact,
including ornamented Bimah pillars and wall paintings hidden under new layers of paint. Our
permanent exhibition weaves together the history of Sweden’s Jews and their quest to find a
place for Jewish thought and practice in a new country.
