Kate Oh Gallery

Founded by Kate Oh in 2017, Kate Oh Gallery is devoted to supporting artists who work in an extensive range of differing media. These include works on paper, paintings, sculptures, installations, and even live performances.

The gallery provides an intimate and inviting space that allows for a broad range of art forms to be exhibited and appreciated.

The mission of the gallery is to advocate for the work of both well-known and emerging artists through individual or group exhibitions. These exhibitions are held with the intention to introduce these artists to esteemed collectors and to the general public in the context of New York City.

The exhibition program featured at this gallery is both diverse and inclusive, and consistently strives to showcase the works of artists from all around the world. International artists from South Korea, Ukraine, and more have exhibited in this space, and the gallery continues to seek out other talented artists, both domestically and internationally, to introduce their works in this space. Kate Oh Gallery aims to establish a broad range of partnerships that will create opportunities for artists to expand their practice.

Kate Oh is a double graduate from Parsons the New School for Design, from which she holds both a B.F.A. ’98 and M.F.A. ’00 in Fine Arts with a focus on painting and sculpture.

Since 2004, Kate has been working as a Docent for the Highlights Tour at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Inspired by the scope and the beauty of the Asian arts collection at the Met, she began to further appreciate the fine arts of Asia - in particular the Korean folk painting style, Minhwa.

As an artist, she uses materials and techniques true to Minhwa tradition while simultaneously exploring contemporary Minhwa practices. Her work has been displayed in 16 solo exhibitions and 65 group shows worldwide.

Currently, Kate serves as a Chairperson of the International Committee of The Federation of Korean Artistic & Cultural Organization, a Korean-American Culture and Arts Honorary Ambassador, and also serves as the Executive Vice President of the Korean-New York Artist Association.

She is also the founder of Kate Oh Gallery in New York, which aims to raise awareness for emerging artists at the intersection of both Eastern and Western Art. Additionally, she lectures and conducts a course on Korean Folk Traditions at Rutgers University.
