Kalamata Dance Festival since its inception has invited international dance companies such as Trisha Brown Dance Company, Russell Maliphant Dance, Rosemary Butcher Dance Projects, Liat Dror & Nil Ben Gal Company, Akram Khan Company, Ultima Vez / Wim Vandekeybus, Jérôme Bel, Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Jan Fabre, Rosas, Peeping Tom, Josef Nadj and Jasmin Vardimon Company as well as Greek choreographers such as Edafos Dance Theatre, Dancetheatre Oktana, Quasistellar and Sinequanon.
