The natural beauty I saw on this trip amazed me. This city managed to captivate my heart with its diverse natural beauty. This time, I had the opportunity to explore the city of Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. This trip to Bandung became one of the most memorable experiences in my life.
Behind the hustle and bustle of the city lies a stunning natural beauty. The city, nicknamed the Flower City, offers a variety of natural tourist destinations and unforgettable experiences. In this city, I had the opportunity to visit some wonderful places, such as Tangkuban Perahu, Kawah Putih, and Dusun Bambu. Through this article, I would like to share the story of my trip and invite you to experience the beauty of Bandung.
Tangkuban Perahu
Tangkuban Perahu is a mountain that has become one of the tourist icons in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Its unique shape, resembling an inverted boat, has attracted the attention of many visitors. The history behind the formation of Tangkuban Perahu mountain stems from a famous legend in Indonesia called Sangkuriang.
According to the legend, Sangkuriang, a young man, fell deeply in love with his own mother, unaware of their genuine relationship. When he discovered the truth, he was heartbroken and enraged. In a fit of anger, he attempted to prevent his mother from marrying by kicking the boat he was building to ferry her across a lake. The boat overturned, forming the majestic mountain we see today.
When I arrived, a thin mist shrouded the summit of Tangkuban Perahu. The cool air pierced my skin but didn't dampen my enthusiasm to explore its natural beauty. The smell of sulfur is pungent when approaching the still-active craters. The sight of the craters emitting thick white smoke creates a mystical atmosphere that fascinates me. I felt like I was in a fairy tale.
Local folklore adds another layer of intrigue to the mountain. It is said that the lake water in the crater of Tangkuban Perahu has specific properties, so many visitors bring the water home as a souvenir, believing it possesses healing powers.
After exploring every corner of the crater, I captured this beautiful moment on camera. The soft morning sunlight shines on the mountain peak, creating a serene atmosphere. I also had time to wander around the surrounding area, enjoying the fresh mountain air while occasionally chatting with local vendors selling souvenirs and snacks. The atmosphere was made even more complete by the gentle breeze that carried the distinctive sulphurous aroma of the volcano.
Mount Tangkuban Perahu offers natural beauty and a memorable travel experience. The legend and history attached to this mountain further add to its appeal. It's a place where nature and mythology intertwine, creating a truly unique and unforgettable experience.
Kawah Putih
After being satisfied exploring Mount Tangkuban Perahu, I was curious to witness another natural beauty that was no less enchanting. Two hours later, I arrived at Kawah Putih (white crater). As expected, Kawah Putih presented a truly unique and mesmerising view.
The main uniqueness of Kawah Putih is the greenish-white water. This unusual colour is caused by the high sulphur content in the lake water. In addition, the colour of the crater water can also change depending on the acidity and temperature of the water, creating a constantly shifting palette of hues.
When talking with one of the people who guards this place, he explained that the Kawah Putih was formed from volcanic activity in the past. Volcanic eruptions produced craters, which were then filled by rainwater. Rainwater that reacts with sulphur in the soil forms sulphuric acid, causing the water to acquire its distinctive greenish-white colour. The sight of the greenish-white volcanic lake captivated me.
Luckily, I came in the morning to enjoy the calm and cool atmosphere. The fresh air pierced my skin as I inhaled deeply. The view of the crater surrounded by light mist made my heart feel peaceful. It felt like I was in another world, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Kawah Putih really left a deep impression on me. The unique beauty of the crater lake, coupled with the surrounding natural scenery, made it an unforgettable experience.
Kawah Putih, with its greenish watercolour, gives a unique and magical feel to whoever steps foot in it.
Dusun Bambu
After enjoying the natural beauty of Kawah Putih, I decided to look for a different atmosphere. My choice fell on Dusun Bambu, a tourist village that promises a unique experience. Dusun Bambu combines traditional Sundanese elements with a modern touch, creating a cozy rural atmosphere and many great photo spots. The architecture of the buildings is typical of the western Javanese tribe of Sunda, with traditional thatched roofs and wooden structures. Rice fields and a meandering river add to the idyllic rural charm.
Here, I can enjoy a variety of recreational activities, from walking around the lake to taking part in handicraft workshops to trying my hand at traditional games. One of the must-try specialties is nasi timbel, which is white rice wrapped in banana leaves and served with various side dishes such as fried chicken, tempe bacem, and sambal.
One of the things that made the biggest impression on me was the serene atmosphere. I could relax in the gazebo while enjoying the green scenery that soothed my eyes. It felt like all my worries were instantly gone. Dusun Bambu is not just a tourist spot but also an experience that I will never forget. This destination is perfect for unwinding and finding peace. With a unique concept and complete facilities, Dusun Bambu is worth a visit.
