The Baldwin Gallery is celebrating its 30th winter season in Aspen, with its first show with artist Erwin Wurm. The exhibition, Neuroses, features aluminum, bronze and glasswork sculptures by the artist. It runs from December 27, 2024 – February 9, 2025. Wurm is one of today’s most successful and best-known international contemporary artists, as well as one of Europe’s foremost sculptors. The public is invited to meet the artist at the opening reception on December 27, from 6pm-8pm.
Erwin Wurm’s works play with the mind and psyche, evoking thought with both large and small sculpture. The viewer is invited to question the very laws of nature, as well as social values, and why value is placed on certain objects, ideas, and trends. Wurm alters the figures much in the same way that we can alter our perspectives. Restrictions are completely removed. Works from this series are currently being shown in a 70th year commemoration of his birth at the Albertina Modern Museum in Vienna, Austria.
Erwin Wurm graduated from University of Graz, Austria, in 1977, and the University of Applied Art and Academy of Fine Art, Vienna in 1982.
