Filling the Los Angeles summer with Modern and Contemporary Art, Keystone Gallery is honored to present Momentum, a duo exhibition with LA-based artists Mary Lai and Jenny Chandler.
A physical representation of the truth that art is expression, Lai and Chandler’s styles work together seamlessly, presenting a tribute to movement. Each using emotion to emphasize the movement within their lives and transporting it to their canvases, they use different techniques but the resulting work is equally effective.
While Lai creates movement through her forms that are an evolution of her Abstract Dancer series, Chandler creates movement through brushstrokes, textures and layers of paint. The complimenting body of works come alive with the ebb and flow of color between the different mediums, formats and compositions.
The work in Momentum is not only about motion within the art but the idea of achieving the flywheel effect which occurs as an artist accumulates small wins over time. This constant dance of creating and sharing artwork to the world - our attempt to build enough momentum to allow the euphoric effect to take place and go full circle.

Jenny Chandler art is anything but ordinary abstract. Just as every moment and chapter of life shapes us, every layer of her pieces tell an ever changing story. Using primarily acrylic, each piece is composed of cohesive yet inconsistent movement and dimension. So thick you feel like you’re sinking into it’s depth or so atmospheric it’s sending a breath of fresh air into your lungs. A paradox inside an enigma is what you’ll see in every piece. Endlessly building and shapeshifting, everyone can find their own story in each piece.
