World peace has always seemed like a close-range possibility. We have tried to grasp it for decades, and with every missed opportunity, we left it for the next time. The black hole we have subjected ourselves to has found its feet glued to our negligence, and we are being pulled by forces mightier than us. Countries have lost their grip on the way of humanity, and the earth is dividing itself into sides. Countries are preparing for a war that might never come. And if it comes, it might never end.

The revelation of world peace and all its ambiguity has gained political mileage due to the fear of death. Countries work towards amassing power against threats and protecting their continuous existence. To achieve world peace, certain measures have to be followed. These are listed in the paragraphs below:

Gun control

Laxity in gun control fills the earth with bullets rather than peace. Government and citizens alike have remained unbent and refused to compromise certain rights to benefit the earth’s population. Countries like North Korea, guided by certain principles, have accumulated a wealth of weapons to the detriment of other nations. Gun violence in North American schools has led to student deaths and unconsolable grief for families. The gang wars in Mexico, and terrorism in Syria, Iran, and Afghanistan are all fruits of the unrestricted use of guns.

Make corrections rather than cover mistakes

The pride of men in suits and power has become more expedient than the survival of the human race. Bad political decisions made decades ago have not been corrected by today's leaders. The inhabitants of Chago Island were forcefully expelled from their homes by the British government and moved to Mauritius. Most of them died from poverty and sorrow. Political leaders must acknowledge their transgressions and make corrections rather than cover more mistakes to protect a false image and truth.

Address income inequality

The gaping margin between the rich and the poor is a deterrent to the actualization of world peace. The poverty rate in the world today has skyrocketed beyond the control of economic forces due to the numerous players on the field that contribute to its perpetual growth. In South Africa, the margin between the rich and the poor is 63 per cent, the highest in the world. Racism plays a role in this effect. The tools of the economy that control wealth are still in the hands of a race. They are not shared even after the end of apartheid. The ghost of the past still haunts the country and its wealth creation and distribution. Russia also, being one of the wealthiest countries, has its wealth distributed in favour of the oligarchs who have a close affiliation with the Russian government. This has become a hurdle in the progression of wealth equality because other citizens and businesses with non-affiliation with the government do not have ease of business operations and opportunities made available to these oligarchs.

Practice inclusivity

The discontinuation of certain policies is necessary for world peace. These policies include executive order 13769, proposed by Donald Trump to ban 7 countries and 5 of which were Muslim-majority countries. Iran, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, North Korea, and Venezuela were included in this list. Joe Biden repealed the order on his first day in office. This order still has a looming effect today on the mindset of people even after its nullity. The question arises: is America truly a place of inclusivity?

Conclusion

The phrase world peace has become so casual that it loses its effects the more it is repeated. The disassociation of the fact that failure to achieve world peace will lead to deterioration of the world as we know it is a nightmare slowly creeping into our reality. All the measures revealed need to be proactively built on for future generations to be born into a world that works and not blame our insensitivity to the disaster that is charging at us.
