Gallery Diet is pleased to announce scry 2, Kadar Brock’s first solo exhibition at the gallery. Brock manipulates the painting plane into a tattered, torn, collaged surface, creating a micro/macro effect which simultaneously shows the viewer pixels and constellations, torn pieces of a whole and endless fields of open space. Brock’s process destroys the significant object leaving in its place the gestural residue of the artist’s hand. scry 2, will consist of 14 paintings, all of which have been re-worked multiple times. The artworks included in the exhibit encompass a range of dates, an indicator of the previous, and potential future life, of each surface.

Kadar Brock lives and works in New York City, he was born in 1980 and holds a BFA from The Cooper Union. He has been shown in solo exhibitions at The Hole, Vigo Gallery, Thierry Goldberg Projects and Motus Fort. His works have also been shown in group exhibitions at the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art, Asia Song Society (a project space ran by Terence Koh), The Hudson Valley Center of Contemporary Art, and the Detroit Museum of Contemporary Art. His work has been reviewed in The New York Times, The Village Voice, Artforum, Bomb Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail, Interview Magazine, White Hot Magazine and Dazed and Confused.
