Denise Bibro Fine Art, Chelsea, NYC is pleased to announce an exhibition of Patrice Charbonneau's abstractions in paint entitled, S H O A L S, running October 15 - November 28, 2020. This exhibition is in collaboration with Beaux-Arts Des Ameriques, Quebec, Canada.
Charbonneau is a fine painter with the fortuitous luck of also being a trained architect. There is a sensual understanding of shape and form in his work. It is also inherent that in his work there is a sense of tactual dimensionality. The current body of paintings entitled, S H O A L S, is reminiscent of the submerged ridges beneath the surface of water that are a hazard to navigate. The concept displaces the viewer and forces the viewer to take stock of his or her coordinates in his bold and voluptuous strokes of paint.
The dynamics of the city landscape are not the only source of inspiration for the artists’ work. His memories and experience are as well. The artist has an uncanny sense of how not to overdue. Even though the work may be unsettling, it is never overworked. It is always authentic and honest. There is always a sense of place.
Charbonneau has a degree in Architecture and Environmental Design. He has had several exhibitions in both Canada and New York. He has also participated in various Art Fairs.
