“All I Can Think About is You,” promotes the power of emotions by focusing on the deepest part of our feelings. In Marco Grassi’s portraits of young ladies, the eyes become the real protagonists serving as the “window to the soul,” or the door from which people show their spirit. The ladies portrayed by Grassi become the meeting point between the observer and his inner soul, rediscovering the most hidden part of every one of us and putting aside, just for a moment of intimate dialogue, the tangible world we face every day.

Inspired by the street art style seen throughout the works of Grassi, Carol Kurth’s new generation of designs titled Squarish Chair | Decades, like the urban fabric of the city itself, evoke both glamour and grit, seriousness and whimsy. Contrasts represented in the works by Grassi such as dramatic graffiti style portraits awash with luxurious gold and silver leaf are a hallmark of his figurative style. The inspiration of these counterintuitive juxtapositions spurred designer Kurth to push her design boundaries and elevate the chairs to a functional art form.

The upcoming show marks Carol Kurth’s debut at the gallery featuring the next iteration of her Squarish Chair series. Designed by Kurth, the series takes a look back while spinning forward. The modern Squarish Chair silhouette, synonymous with Kurth’s design aesthetic, includes three distinctive artisanal works each suggestive of an iconic period in New York City street culture. Aptly named No. 80, No. 70 and No. 60, each chair has a distinct personality — channeling the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s New York metropolis.
