The Norton’s newest summer exhibition, Posters by Toulouse-Lautrec, features a robust selection of Toulouse-Lautrec printed works from the 1890s. This is the first time in 45 years the Museum has presented a Toulouse-Lautrec exhibition. The works on view are on loan from the private collection of Palm Beach resident Jan Willinger. Many of the posters were created as advertisements to publicize celebrities performing in the clubs and cabarets of the Montmartre section of Paris that the artist frequented, while others documented the daily activities of 19th-century modern life. Created using the lithographic process, Toulouse-Lautrec's posters are renowned for their bold, vivid compositions, which feature caricature-like renderings of his electrifying subjects.

The exhibition is curated by the Norton's 2019 summer interns, Louis Dzialo, Magdalena Glotzer, Allison Marino, and Sarah Ortiz-Monasterio, and runs from Aug. 2 through Dec. 10, 2019.
