Keiichirô’s work uses photography as an expression of forms he creates through works involving flowers that he creates himself.
In his work “struct” (2017-), the theme of the relationship between natural and artificial objects. he takes forms based on flowers, which are organic objects, and forms based on stones, which are inorganic objects, and juxtaposes them within the work, along with the “mechanical reproduction “and “digital depiction” characteristics possessed by photography. Through this melding of aesthetic elements, he creates a new form (structure), and a new fusion in photography.
In the 2011 earthquake disaster, enormous “natural forces” were at work. With the ebb and flow of time across generations, there has been a decisive movement toward “harmony and equilibrium”, and people have come to be keenly aware of the relationship between nature and the human impact on the world. It may well be that the time has come to view afresh what the “balance between humanity and nature” looks like, this being a common thematic undercurrent in murals of that era.
In this work, the focus is on BLUE, as produced through the process of “digital depiction “, seeking out poetic expression and the role of a “switch” that evokes a heightened sense of one’s surroundings. This switch may be viewed as being linked to “KIRE (Discontinuity)”, which is one element in the Japanese aesthetic. “Discontinuity” is a termination of the natural “way of life”, vitalizing an extremely deep natural state of being, and imbuing with life new “forms” arising through the actions representing this “termination“
