The Lapis Press is pleased to announce the release of five signed, special edition prints from ROMA, the new Netflix film by Academy Award®-winning director Alfonso Cuarón.
The most personal project to date from Academy Award®-winning director and writer Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity, Children of Men, Y Tu Mamá También), ROMA follows Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio), a young domestic worker for a family in the middle-class neighborhood of Roma in Mexico City. Delivering an artful love letter to the women who raised him, Cuarón draws on his own childhood to create a vivid and emotional portrait of domestic strife and social hierarchy amidst political turmoil of the 1970s.
Netflix has published a selection of five images taken during the filming of ROMA by photographer Carlos Somonte (Mexico, b.1956). Each image has been selected by Cuarón and Somonte to capture the mood and atmosphere of the story. The striking photography by Somonte has been exhibited alongside the film as it debuted at film festivals worldwide.
The Lapis Press is honored to collaborate with Netflix, Alfonso Cuarón and Carlos Somonte on producing this edition of black-and-white pigmented ink prints. Each print will be accompanied by a signed label from Alfonso Cuarón and Carlos Somonte.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these prints will benefit the Center for Support and Training of Domestic Workers (CACEH).
