Xico Greenwald: Recent Still Lifes presents paintings of everyday objects born out of Greenwald’s belief that the commonplace is rich subject matter and that there is poetry to be found in the prosaic stuff of life.
Paintings of teapots, vases, bowls and pots and pans are deliberately straightforward, reflecting Greenwald’s conviction that art can be both carefully designed and approachable to a general audience.
Influences from Roman wall painting to 17th century Spanish still life can be seen in his work. Greenwald earned a BA from Bard College and an MFA from Brooklyn College.
