K. Imperial Fine Art is pleased to present its second solo show of the work of Ellie Fritz.
Continuing to push the boundaries of printmaking, Ellie will be presenting works that combine various printing techniques with painting and drawing. These hybrid works evolve from a dialogue between painting and printmaking. Painting introduces gesture and form, while collage imprints positive and negative space. The final stage of embossing introduces conversations between thick & thin, transparent & opaque, soft & hard, and light & dark. This new body of work explores geometric forms and chance coverage in an unexpected moment.
Ellie Fritz has exhibited her work in New York, Miami, Alabama, and San Francisco. She completed both her BFA (2004) and MFA (2008) at the San Francisco Art Institute while receiving several honors and awards. In 2008, Ellie began working as an artist-in-residence at KALA Art Institute where she continues her printmaking studio practice today. Recent residencies include: The Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham, AL (September 2018) teaching printmaking as a visiting artist and Artist in Residence at the Marin MOCA in Novato, California (January 2019) which will culminate in a solo exhibition. Fritz lives and works in Marin County, California.
