Every human being has resources, that is, specific qualities that allow to establish realization of possibilities and satisfaction of needs. In this sense, resources are infinite and become synonymous with possibilities. It turns out that everything that exists is evidenced in contexts - in situations that structure limits and conditions -, consequently generating obstacles as much as releases.
When the human being realizes its possibilities, it discovers resources. If this process, this perception, is carried out in the context of autonomy, which even in childhood may exist, resources are sources that enable relationships and infinite changes, satisfactions and discoveries.
When the identification of resources is carried out in the context of non-autonomy, they account for means of getting the other to fulfill one’s own desires and thus the resource is characterized by the ability to use, to create conditions - from deception to seduction - so that the other accomplish what is needed.
The continuous exercise of this attitude creates affective dependencies, depersonalizes and transforms people into objects of pleasure, work, love and encouragement. The more one realizes desires, the more one empties oneself. This drainage system structures the depressed, the addicted, the dehumanized. To transform one's own resources, one's own relational possibilities into norms and determining patterns of realization of desires and goals is only possible when one fails to perceive the other as a human being, when one begins to perceive him/her as an object, as a receptacle of desires, as a support for achieving goals.
Transformed into the expectation of what is wanted or expected, the individual alienates resources and lives in function of their investment. The non-autonomous attitude, resulting from autoreference, continuously increases the lack of autonomy, the lack of will, the lack of motivation and determination. In this way resources are transformed in the search for opportunities that to happen need help and support. This circumstantialization refers to everything in terms of good or bad luck. Thus, the individual loses individuality and human possibilities, as much as anxiety increases for fulfilling the desired, the promised, the expected. Anxiety, fear, doubt, anguish become his/her constant and unique resources. In this framework, in order not to burst, he/she uses drains represented by remedies, community aids, protective and saving beliefs: gods, gurus and even politicians.
Every human being is full of resources, however, when emptied by autoreferencing, by non-autonomy, which, in turn, creates goals (desires related to totally different situations and alien to those he/she experiences, but which he/she considers a lifesaver: from winning the lottery, finding enchanted princes or princesses, to being anointed as powerful, as someone who can do everything), he/she becomes fragmented, divided, loses the continuity of being in the world, experiencing the present as darkness and as a wall that generates anguish and fear. In this situation of emptying, of alienation and depersonalization, these are his/her resources: unrealized dreams, lost possibilities and potentialities, traumas and regrets that create fear, mistrust, consternation, and, consequently, frustrated relationships, bitter speech, doubts never clarified.
The possibilities, the resources transformed into necessities create obstacles, difficulties. Slaughtered lands, destroyed lives, humanity overcome and suffocated by the use, consumption, and abuse of the other and of oneself. When using own resources to support self-referral, autophagy is performed; it is like feeding from one's own body to stay alive.
