After the successful exhibition "Herbert Beck meets Emil Nolde. Inspiration and Realization" at the Olaf Gulbransson Museum in Tegenersee (Bavaria) in June/September 2018, Beck & Eggeling is pleased to house a part of the exhibition in our exhibition rooms in Vienna.
The opening of the exhibition "Herbert Beck meets Emil Nolde. Inspiration and Realization" will take place on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 7 pm at Beck & Eggeling International Fine Art, Margaretenstraße 5/19, 1040 Vienna. Introduction by Dr. Christian Ring (Director Nolde Foundation Seebüll) and Michael Beck.
Meeting the great expressionist Emil Nolde in 1952 in Hamburg was an inspiring key event for Herbert Beck’s artistic career. "Achieving Nolde's glowing color was the goal of countless studies," Beck wrote later. In the exhibition, the juxtaposition of two masters of watercolour pain- ting demonstrates the unsurpassed mastery of Emil Nolde, as well as Beck's continuation of expressive painting opening up new possibilities in composition and content. Both artists were always committed to the object, and the conviction and maxim to seek the highest possible expression in their paintings was the main focus of their artistic work.
