Our Summer show is always one of the most popular exhibitions of the year. This large changing exhibition over three floors includes work by Wales’ leading artists, past and present; Gwen John, Ceri Richards, John Petts, Sir Kyffin Williams, Peter Prendergast, Harry Holland, Shani Rhys James, Kevin Sinnott, Mary Lloyd Jones, Gwilym Prichard, John Macfarlane, Sally Moore, Claudia Williams, Martin Collins, Gareth Parry, Sarah Carvell, Darren Hughes, William Selwyn, Iwan Gwyn Parry, Clive Hicks-Jenkins, Sigrid Muller, Vivienne Williams, Catrin Williams, Meirion Ginsberg amongst others. It also includes work by Welsh Artist of the Year 2013, Sarah Ball.
The exhibition also features a group of new works by Neil Canning, an artist synonymous with bold abstraction. He gained early success painting semi-figurative landscapes in his native Oxfordshire, before moving to Wales in 1990 where he developed his distinctive style. Despite the abstract quality of his work, his paintings are always firmly rooted in nature, and he considers himself very much a part of the landscape tradition. He has been based in Cornwall since the late nineties and is considered a leading figure of the new generation of St Ives School. In recent years he has worked on high profile public commissions in Wales including John Lewis in Cardiff and Cardiff Central Library.
There is a very broad range of styles and subject matter on display and prices range from £100 to £50,000. Collectorplan, the Arts Council of Wales interest-free credit scheme is available for purchase of work by living artists.
