Accola Griefen Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition The Land Before and After Time, which will be on view from July 11 through August 10, 2013.
This exhibition presents fourteen artists whose selected works evoke ideas and imagery pertaining to our planet before and after human existence. Although no people are present, The Land Before and After Time, explores our impact on and relationship to the land and our search for the meaning of time. The artists are: Victoria Burge, Nancy Cohen, Janet Culbertson, Kate Elliot, Florencio Gelabert, Susanna Heller, Kim Keever, Bill Leech, Nicola Lopez, Simone Meltesen, Mitch Miller, Melvin Edward Nelson, Judy Pfaff and Darren Waterston.
The pieces in the exhibition represent a wide range of mediums including painting, sculpture and installation. The works depict the planet’s surface and atmosphere and range from the mysterious and bucolic (Victoria Burge, Kate Elliot, Kim Keever, Simone Meltesen, Melvin Edward Nelson, Judy Pfaff, Darren Waterston) to possible post apocalyptic decay (Nancy Cohen, Janet Culbertson, Florencio Gelabert, Susanna Heller, Bill Leech, Nicola Lopez, Mitch Miller).
