Exhibition Statement from the Curator: "I've chosen Ataraxia as the title for this exhibition based on it's definition, "a kind of inner peace – the ability to remain calm despite fear, anger, sadness, or stress". This is one word that most closely summarizes my personal interactions / feelings when viewing art. This is especially true for the artists I have chosen for this group exhibition. In a sense, the world around me seems to come to a halt and somehow brings about one of the most blissful states of being, allowing me to fully engage, appreciate and enjoy the experience of what is in front of me. My hope is that others will share a similar experience to this, especially those who have not been exposed to these works previously."
Originally from Houston, Ryan Connell has been entranced by the art world since childhood. In 2005 he moved to Austin becoming exposed to the unique artistic culture of the city. This attributed to him pursuing his dreams in dealing and supporting local and national artists, in any way possible. Since then, Ryan has been involved behind the scenes collaborating with established art dealers and galleries from curating shows to hand delivering sold works of art to collectors around the country. In 2014 his contributions, drive and passion was noticed by Knew Conscious Gallery, located in Denver. KCG extended the unique opportunity of coming aboard as their Gallery Curator, Manager and Director. Since then, Ryan’s curatorial vision has assisted in bringing a diverse range of artistic styles into the Denver art culture from dozens of emerging to well established artists, from around the world.
