When Dutch culture flourished in the 1600s, a tremendous boom in art production led to vast quantities of highly finished drawings.

In this golden age, artists celebrated the world around them through depictions of enchanting vistas, striking portraits of the rising middle class, and scenes of industry and leisure, thereby giving shape to an emerging national identity.
