On the facade of Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, the words Not Hate and Love shine in bright neon, the words of Viera Collaro’s installation. The artwork strikes the note of this year’s exhibition with Grønningen, focusing on spontaneity and collective exchanges. Having the opportunity to display such a striking assembly of artists is not a privilege granted every day.

Rich in traditions, Grønningen is one of Denmark’s largest artist cooperatives, and has always presented great names. Though previously a male-dominated cooperative, during the last decade Grønningen has taken pride in levelling out the gender balance. Today, Grønningen counts some of the most prominent female artist in the Danish art scene among its members.
