For the past 5 years, Mirus Gallery has been championing new movements of contemporary art in San Francisco. Mirus means “astonishing, extraordinary, and strange.” By definition, the curatorial direction of owner, Paul Hemming, presents just that through exhibitions of international emerging and mid-career artists. These exhibitions strive engage viewers on a sentient, emotional and evocative level , while also pushing the boundaries in remarkable technical skills and process.
The 5-Year Anniversary Group exhibition is a sampling of international artists that have previously exhibited with Mirus, as well as new artists that will expand our vision into the future. On exhibit for the first time will be a collaborative painting by the Furtherrr Collective from Burning Man 2015, consisting of artists Mars1, Damon Soule, Oliver Vernon, David Choong Lee, and NoME Edonna. They were featured in the first ever exhibition at Mirus gallery and will be a highlighted at the anniversary exhibit, with additional individual pieces by these artists as well.
