The collection documents humankind’s development from a hunter-gatherer existence to sedentary farming and on to the emergence of complex political states.

The collection encompasses objects of stone, pottery, gold, bronze, iron and glass of finds from settlements, burials and hoards. Wherever possible, the department tries to present such finds in their entirety.
