The furniture collection includes pieces that once belonged to the founder of the museum Hans von Aufsess. It has been continually expanded ever since.
Many of the objects were donated to the museum, while gaps in the collection were filled through specific acquisitions and the exhibition further enhanced by the purchase of some magnificent showpieces.
The main focus of the collection is German furniture from the Baroque and Rococo periods. These items do not stand alone but form part of a series of exhibits that are embedded in the respective permanent exhibitions to illustrate how people have lived from the Middle Ages to the present day.
