Co-owners and curators Jon Christopher Gernon and Jillian Platt are proud to announce the opening of Scarlet Seven Fine Art Gallery at 137 Fourth Street, Troy, NY, 12018. Scarlet Seven is the newest edition to the ascending business revival of downtown Troy. This will be the first gallery in Troy to feature the diversity of contemporary art and functional art. Our mission is to bridge exposure between local, regional and national artists and the growing community.
Jon Christopher Gernon has cultivated more than twenty-five years experience with the local arts scene, including 22 years as the former gallery director at Clement Art in Troy, NY. He has curated, installed, and designed more than one-hundred exhibitions of local, regional, national and European artists work, allowing him the opportunity to work with more than three hundred unique artists.
A widely exhibited and collected artist himself, his work has been featured in more than fifty group and solo exhibitions in the United States, Canada and Europe.
Jillian Platt has a BFA in painting from Boston University and a Masters in Science in medical illustration from Augusta University, Augusta, GA. Jillian has worked as a freelance artist creating illustrations and animations for editorial, pharmaceutical, surgical and legal communities for 20 years. Her work has been featured on PBS, as part of global advertising campaigns and has helped to win the highest product liability case in NYS. She co-produces an annual Studio Show and Sale with a group of other upstate artists and recently curated three pop-up art shows in Troy, NY.
Our opening exhibit will feature painters: David Austin, Jon Gernon, John Hampshire, Willie Marlowe, Jillian Platt, D. Jack Solomon, Yeachin Tsai, Stephen Tyson and Jeff Wigman, sculptors: Julie Branch, Susan Spencer Crowe and ceramic artist Randi Kish.
