In March 2016, RxArt worked with Walead Beshty on an installation of four giant - 15' high by 6' wide - light boxes, each with varying sized bands of vibrant colors.
In creating these brilliant pillars of light specifically for AIMMC, Beshty took inspiration in the colors and average dosages of the top 100 most frequently prescribed medications.
The installation is visible from both inside and outside of the hospital's main entrance, illuminating both the environment of this major Chicago hospital as well as the lives of the patients, their families and visitors, and hospital staff who will encounter it.
AIMMC, a top 100 U.S. Hospital, is a teaching hospital and trauma center recognized as a leader in healthcare equality by the Human Rights Campaign. Project end date is arbitrary; the installation is a long term loan with no end date yet specified.
