In Longing, Cecilia Costa’s third individual show at Galeria Baginski, the artist draws from the word which entitles the exhibition an exploitation of a series of physical qualities inherent to a set of objects, in so maintaining an on going study about matter, symmetry, density and dimension.
The show focuses on the interpretation of the word longing and exploits both its meanings and its linguistic derivations towards other vocables, hence proposing a relationship with the semantics of human expressions. Therefore longing, which expresses an imminence, easily branches to expressions that speak of that state, presenting a sense of elasticity or length (long), or a state of perenniality as in “to pertain” (belong).
Such duality between surrogate terms act as explicit mirror of human relations when in wanting and eagerness but also of a natural and involuntary order of the appliance of physical forces and its consequences.
