SpazioA gallery is proud to present on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 6.00 pm, Muta Bellezza, the third solo show by Francesco Carone in Via Amati 13, Pistoia.
The works on display are entities that defy definition. By nature they belong nowhere and to nothing but themselves. Rejecting every conceptual implication, they merely mouth mute beauty, nothing universal, only ideal. Closer perhaps to the concept of sublimity, these works tend to invalidate any possible question that moves towards or away from them, precisely because they lack specific points of reference. This means considering beauty not as some aesthetic category but rather a spin-off of amazement.
It means accepting gut instinct; observing without understanding, without fully comprehending. Being struck by the lightning of the moment, gaining a sudden insight into the real. These are visions to which the terms error, doubt, or justification just do not apply.
Being sincere also means recognizing this now and praising it. Acknowledging this truth is a dirty business, however, one that also involves a little deceit. I think we need to discover this beauty and the subterranean network of poetry, not rules, that the artist is called upon to reveal, however reluctantly.
Francesco Carone was born in Siena in 1975. He graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Recent solo and group exhiobitions are: Rendezvous des amis, Museo Civico, Siena; Contemporary locus1, a cura di P. Tognon, Luogo Pio della Pietà, Istituto Bartolomeo Colleoni, Bergamo; Brightlight / Darklight a cura di Ludovico Pratesi e Valentina Ciarallo, American Academy, Roma; Horror vacui, EX3 Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea di Firenze. For the past two years he has been living and working in Iesa, on the outskirts of Siena.
