As Pablo Picasso says ‘art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.’
Dan Parry Jones is a gallery favourite using screen print and ink on paint creating a layered tangible edge of texture with an urban vibe. His well balanced palate tones are a mix of warm fiery colours and cool blues and silvers. There is a closeness created with the subject matter of Dan’s work that gives a sense of nostalgia and Deja-vu within the settings of the work.
Victoria Horkan is our butterfly dream cycle painter and creates a sense of freedom and tranquillity in her swirls of paint and loose outlines that reel the viewer in. Victoria builds the layers of paint in places to create texture and flights of movement that enables your eye to wander over the entire works.
Fran Giffard is one of our fantastic new artists and joins us in our first show of the year. Fran works on top of her passed diary entries from her moleskin diary and illustrates beautiful bird’s scenes in water colour, graphite pencil and ink. These delicate art drawings are encased in modern black and white frames giving an overall modern appeal.
Jane Perkins interjects fun in her artwork; the image is formed from plastic toys, beads and buttons and found object from around the home. Her work is inspired by famous celebrity portraits, famous paintings and photographs. Jane makes her artwork playful and allows the viewer to not over analyse the piece and just enjoy it for what it is.
Zara Merrick’s hand made embroidery textile birds are a creative delight to brighten any room and create a talking point. Zara layers her fabric to create her rustling bird feathers which in turn brings these bright eyed creatures to life and every stitch is used to create shading and texture. As a more personal touch, the fabrics Zara uses in her works have been uniquely collected globally from her travels through out her life, making each piece truly unique and one of a kind.
Maria Rivans, our only printmaker of the show and is another gallery favourite. Her clever screen prints are hand finished with glitter and blue and green iridescent paint. Maria’s work is inspired uses Hollywood pin ups all time female greats and transforms them in carnival headdresses, choker necklaces and dripping in diamonds.
