Tommaso Corvi-Mora is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new work by British artist Roger Hiorns, his sixth at the gallery.

The exhibition will feature a group of new works: stretched canvases that have been crystallised, covered with coatings of copper sulphate crystals in varying degrees of thickness. Some of the canvases have been painted with an animal brain undercoat before being crystallised, while others were processed in their original state. Most of the works are untitled, with the exception of the “HRW” series: part of the revenues from the sale of works from this series will be paid to the NGO Human Rights Watch.

This exhibition is strictly related to the two latest solo exhibitions held by Roger Hiorns at the gallery: the first, in 2008, featured an atomised passenger jet engine; the second one, in 2012, a group of monochrome paintings: white plastic panels painted with animal brain matter.

Roger Hiorns was born in Birmigham in 1975. He has exhibited extensively in Europe and the US, most recently at Luhring Augustine in New York and at the Kunsthaus Biel. A solo exhibition of new and recent work will open at the end of June at the Rudolfinum in Prague. He contributed to “History Is Now” at the Hayward Gallery, which closes at the end of April, and is working on a survey exhibition at the Ikon Gallery Birmingham for 2016.
