K. Imperial Fine Art is pleased to present, Second Nature, a solo exhibition featuring gallery artist, Mila Libman. Second Nature will showcase large-scale charcoal and ink drawings, which interpret the essence of experiencing and reinventing nature. Second Nature will open September 1st, with a reception for the artist Thursday, September 4th from 5- 7:30 pm. This will be Libman’s second solo exhibition with K. Imperial.
Second Nature depicts the habit and the process that Libman has acquired through her repetitive action of reworking, and redefining while creating her meticulous drawings. Libman begins her process by taking photographs of the Sierras and selecting images in which she would like to reinvent. Her process of altering, and distorting the photograph, ultimately allows the drawing to take its own form of representation.
While blurring the lines of reality with abstraction, the drawings establish a personal orientation while preserving and adding elegance to the serene imagery. Libman creates a sense of wonder with her grand meditative drawings luring the viewer in for their own contemplative thoughts and personal experience.
Mila Libman was born in Minsk, Belarus and immigrated to the US in 1988. She studied graphic design at Montclair State University and continued her art training at the New York Studio School.
