The Other Art Fair, the UK’s leading artist-led fair, presents its seventh edition this October. Returning to East London’s cultural hub, Old Truman Brewery, during Frieze Week, the fair is set to be the major satellite event of this exciting period in London’s art calendar. The Other Art Fair will be presenting alongside Moniker Art Fair with one ticket providing admittance to both fairs.
2014 is the second occasion that The Other Art Fair has been staged during Frieze week, following both the huge success of October 2013 and the long-established April edition in Marylebone which this year enjoyed excellent sales and record visitor numbers. April 2014 was crowned by a collaboration with the inimitable Tracey Emin, whose series of unique and affordable limited edition works produced especially for the fair proved a considerable draw.
Visitors to the forthcoming edition of the fair will be able to enjoy artwork from exciting international artists alongside a programme of lectures, workshops, live music and interactive theatre.
The fair’s uniquely democratic and inclusive ethos has rightly won it a niche as one of the capital’s favourite art events; since 2011 it has become the go-to venue to discover the next great artist for both first-time buyers and established collectors. A record number of artist applications this year means that there will be 25% more exhibitors and an even greater selection of work to view in October 2014.
Praise for The Other Art Fair, April 2014:
‘We love this artist-led extravaganza....a prestigious showcase for up and coming artists, you
can feel very smug discovering the next big thing’. Fabric Magazine
The participating artists have been selected by a panel of industry experts including: Anita Zabludowicz, Founding Director of the Zabludowicz Collection, Omar Kholeif, Curator at Whitechapel Gallery, Sophie O’Brien, Senior Curator at the Serpentine Gallery, and celebrated artist Polly Morgan. The support and participation of these leading figures within the international art scene is testament to the growing importance and authority of The Other Art Fair within the UK’s creative landscape.
Fair Director Ryan Stanier comments:
‘Our aim has always been to provide an accessible platform for artists to exhibit and reach a
growing audience of people who love art and want to collect - we want it to be a great
experience for them. I believe that we are really delivering on both counts’.
