Founded in 1882, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters (The ROI) has been a constant haven for good painting over the past 130 plus years. It is uniquely dedicated to celebrating those who practice the Art of Oil Painting.
Membership of the ROI is open to artists who have shown work of a consistently high standard in its annual exhibition. Successful candidates are first elected associate members of the Institute and have a maximum period of five years in which to illustrate their suitability for full membership. Those interested in developing skills in Oil Painting are encouraged to join the Friends of the ROI which gives them access to the ROI membership's wealth of experience. Workshops, Master classes and group painting days are run monthly.
We are looking forward to exhibiting, for the first time, paintings by an invited group of distinguished members of the ROI.
The exhibition includes a fine selection of landscape, still life and figurative paintings by: Malcolm Ashman, Susan Bower, Roy Freer, Lachlan Goudie, Philip James, Lucy McKie, Luis Morris, and Peter Wileman, all leading ROIs. We also include works by Graham Webber, recently appointed AROI. Across all of the work, depth of colour and painterly skills are much in evidence.
