Soha Ben Slama

Soha Ben Slama, Coordinator IAI Tunisia and Coordinator of the International Tribunal on Evictions Her international involvement dates back to 1995 coordinating women witnesses from Morocco and Mauritania to the International Tribunal on Violence against Women at the World Conference on Violence against Women in Huairou, Beijing, China with El Taller, an international NGO, working on violence against women.

Co-founder and previously active in the Tunisian Women's Coalition until 2014 and again in 2019, for the big mobilisation on 20 March 2019, Independence Day, against radicalisation.

As IAI coordinator for Tunisia, she co-hosted and organised the two World Assemblies of Inhabitants at the WSF 2013 and WSF 2015 and the "First Assises for the Right to Decent Housing in Tunisia", the first conference organised in Tunisia on the subject, and in the framework of the World Zero Eviction Days (2013) that IAI has been organising since its creation.

Engaged since then in the construction of a Mediterranean and African dynamic for a Network of Inhabitants in the region within the IAI. Co-founder of the Global Platform for the Right to the City (2014) in Sao Paulo.

She is the coordinator of the International Tribunal on Evictions and coordinated the ITE East Asia 2016, the ITE in Quito 2016 parallel of Habitat III, the ITE on Tourism in Venice in 2017, the ITE in Brazil 2018 at the WSF in Salvador de Bahia, and on December 2019, the two ITE sessions on Climate change at the Cumbre Social por la Acción Climática in Santiago de Chile, and the Cumbre social por el clima in parallel of the COP 25 in Madrid.

Involved and co-organiser of the Mediterranean Forum of Inhabitants (Marseille 21-24 June 2019) on the theme of "Pollution in Gabes Tunisia, shore of death - The impact of the petrochemical group". In March/April 2020, she co-ordinates the launch of a call for solidarity in collaboration with Médecins du Monde-Belgium Section Tunisia, and gathers 63 signatures among the most important organisations and personalities and members of parliament in Tunisia for a moratorium on evictions in times of Pandemic within the framework of the Zero Evictions X Coronavirus Campaign launched at the global level by the IAI.

In June 2021, she launches another call for solidarity in collaboration with Platform for Initiatives and gathers 104 signatures from the most important organisations and personalities of civil society, in favour of an 86-year-old grandmother who had been unjustly evicted from a house she had been renting since 1960. The eviction was in violation of articles 11 and 12 of the ICESCR, ratified by Tunisia in 1969.

She is basically a very committed, polyvalent artist since always (painting, ceramics, sculpture, engraving) with a national and international background
