Dr. Andrei Grachev, a Russian political analyst and journalist, was adviser for Mikhail Gorbachev and official Spokesman of the President of the USSR until his resignation in December 1991.

He is currently editorialist for Novaya Gazeta (Russia) and Chairman of the Scientific Committee of The New Policy Forum.
