Roberto Luciani (Rome, 1951) is among the major critics, art Historians and restoration experts in Italy. Architect, archaeologist, literary critic, scientific journalist, cultural manager.

Specialized in "Cultural Heritage of the Church", "Restoration of Monuments" at the University of Rome, "Architectural Conservation" at the International Centre for the Study of Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM).

Author of sixty-five monographs, also translated and distributed abroad, published by important houses, including institutions.

Director of various editorial collections and magazines; author of over two hundred scientific articles published in catalogues of exhibitions and specialized magazines, introductions and essays on books, international conference proceedings; as a scientific journalist, he has over a thousand articles of exclusive artistic interest, published in national and foreign newspapers and magazines.

Architect Director in the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, he designed and directed over two hundred important monumental restorations of architectural, archaeological, historical-artistic heritage and historical gardens; he has curated conferences, museum exhibits, exhibitions, competitions and conferences.

In 1998 he was appointed member of the Office for "Rome Capital and Major Events" established at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers; in 2009 he was appointed "Cultural Heritage Expert" at the Directorate-General for the Promotion and Cultural Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Coordinator of the Farnesina Collection of Contemporary Art. In this last role he has curated important international exhibitions, including Palazzo della Farnesina and its Collections, set up in Rome (Ara Pacis, 2011) and then in Tunis, Algiers, Rabat, London; Restoration, methods and instruments of Italian, with European circulation* (set up from 2011 to 2015 in Vilnius, Minsk, Bucharest, Warsaw, Sofia) and extra European circuit (set up in Hanoi, Bangkok, Manila, New Delhi, Addis Ababa, Erbil).

For many years he taught at the University of Ravenna and at the Pontifical Lateran University Higher Institute of Religious Sciences Ecclesia Mater where he was also director of Master.

In 1995 he received the title of "Commendatore - Ordine al merito della Repubblica Italiana”.
